Internet Solutionary founder, Pamela Lies, has been the Webmaster at Secure Computing for the past 12 years. She started out at Secure as a software engineer- and after a couple of years the opportunity to move into Web development presented itself. She jumped at the chance, and hasn't looked back since! With a strong background in engineering, and a love for things artistic - Web design and development work is the perfect career in which to combine the two.
Secure Computing drove many of its mission-critical business initiatives from its corporate Website, requiring someone with a strong development background at the helm. Many of these applications were quite complex and interacted with databases throughout the company. From product evaluation downloads, to activations and software upgrades - Pamela worked on all aspects of the Website. Registration for weekly product webinars as well as monthly delivery of the company newsletter, SecureNews, were also driven from the Website. Even the very well-trafficked, database-driven and searchable Resource Center was developed by Pamela.
Pamela was also responsible for all the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Web Analytics efforts at Secure. She attended the week-long SEO training conference, Search Engine Strategies, every year for the last many years - and picked up a great many effective tips and techniques for obtaining great rankings with search engines. She is currently doing SEO consulting for the Internet security firm Shavlik Technologies as well.
Prior to joining Secure, Pamela already had development work at both Unisys and Control Data under her belt. She also had attained Masters and Bachelors degrees in Computer Science - shortly followed by a certification in Web Design from the University of Minnesota.
The vast majority of Web designers have little or no background in structured software engineering. It is also true that the vast majority of Web developers have little background in Web design. Our lead developer/designer has a strong background in both disciplines. We have yet to be given a project that we could not handle.
